Talk Title: “Mechanisms of cell division and size control in Xenopus”
Abstract: The scientific goal of my laboratory is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of cell division and size control. Our approaches take advantage of in vitro systems, particularly cytoplasmic extracts prepared from eggs and embryos of Xenopus frogs that reconstitute mitotic chromosome condensation and spindle assembly in vitro. We leverage Xenopus species of different sizes and ploidies to investigate how cell and organelle size scaling occurs during development as well as mechanisms underlying hybrid inviability.
