SPARK Publishes Practical Guide for Academic Research Institutions Interested in Drug Development

Posted by Sarah Alexander on November 18, 2013

The SPARK team, including professors Daria Mochly-Rosen and Kevin Grimes, are happy to announce A Practical Guide to Drug Development in Academia: the SPARK Approach was recently published through SpringerBriefs.  The book serves as a general introduction to academics new to drug discovery or translational research.  Chapters walk the reader through standard topics in drug development like medicinal chemistry, formulation, and regulatory affairs, but also include sections on topics tailored to academics like successful project management, robustness in research, and how to make a successful pitch to investors.  Throughout the chapters, Daria has sprinkled lessons learned during her time starting up KAI Pharmaceuticals and ALDEA Pharmaceuticals.  Daria, Kevin and the rest of the SPARK team are excited to share this resource with other academic colleagues and institutions.
